theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: JAMES OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: I LOVE THEM. Days off for Jayde were rare, but when she had them; she reveled in them. Her and James would do things like all couples did. They would go out for lunch or dinner, they would do some shopping. Sometimes they didn't even leave the house. Today Jayde had managed to talk James into taking her to their favourite restaurant for lunch; it hadn't really taken her that long. It had been so long since she had had some time to be with him, she didn't really want to spend it cooking. It was nice to have someone else dote on her while she spent all the time she could catching up on what her husband had been doing with his job and his friends and his family. As weird as it sounded to other people, Jayde enjoyed the days where she and her husband reconnected over stories and gourmet meals. Reasonably priced gourmet food, of course. They often laughed at the people who would spend hundreds of dollars on a meal and some wine, sharing the opinion that it was ridiculous to throw hard earned cash away on things that you could make at home. Jayde had always had a slight distaste for the rich, a quality picked up from her father and, most importantly, medical school. They judged her for being on a scholarship, for being married with little cash and no husband to show for it. James had been serving overseas at the time, but they didn't seem to understand that. Ignorance was something Jayde had gotten herself used to. She would gladly remain where she was in the class system, all she really needed was love. She truly believed that.
They had opted for sitting outside at a table that overlooked the city. Jayde having been over the moon with the idea of being able to sit outside in the warm air and drink iced tea. Being inside for so many hours in a row had driven her a little bit mad. A smile touched her lips as she took a seat at the table and placed her bag on the ground between her and James. "It's such a beautiful day today." she mused, taking one quick look around before turning her gaze onto her husband. Shifting in her seat, Jayde folded one leg over the other and pulled a menu closer to herself, her mouth watering as she read over her various meal choices. "What are you going to have, baby?" she asked, flipping up ideas for her own meal in her head as she awaited his answer. It was nice to finally have some time to be human again, she had even left her pager at home so that they wouldn't be interrupted. Today was a day where she would put her husband first, he deserved to know how much he meant to her and sometimes, Jayde was afraid that she didn't show him that all too often. "I really missed this, you know? Just being able to sit down and talk to you without being so tired that everything aches." She smiled, leaning her elbows on the table, her decisions pushed to the back of her mind as she took in her husband.

What with her demanding internship at the hospital and his job working construction for his father, they were both usually exhausted by the time they got home and didn't do much other than eat dinner, maybe watch some TV, then go to bed. It wasn't all that bad, however, because James enjoyed the little things. Having dinner and cuddling up on the couch was right up his alley, to be honest, and any time spent with his wife was good enough for him. The job was stressful. Not because it was hard work, but because of the added pressure put upon him by his father who also owned the company. They weren't city construction workers, they didn't pave roads or put in new sidewalks, they were the elite kind of construction crew. Keller Construction did buildings, skyscrapers, and once in a while larger scale homes. They followed the floor plans, the blueprints, and eventually constructed multimillion dollar business headquarters or mansions. The money makes it sounds glamorous, but in reality, it was rough, and tiring, emotionally and physically. It was better than being in Iraq though, he had to give it that. James had come back a changed man after his three year tour in the middle east, but luckily Jayde still loved him all the same. She was his savior, even thousands of miles away, he knew she would be there waiting for him when he got back. There were short visits throughout the years, but when James was finally out and done with the Army, he couldn't have been more happy to see her and know he wouldn't have to leave again. Things with Jayde had been comparable to total bliss since.
She finally had a day off, and after making a call to see if someone could cover his shift for the day, James did too. She'd convinced him to take her out to lunch, and of course he agreed, never able to pass up a chance to put a smile on her face. When they'd reached the patio of the restaurant they found a table and took their seats. She remarked on the weather and James nodded, "It really is. Fall is finally on it's way." As if to back up his statement, a cool but refreshing breeze swirled it's way around them. It would be nice to have somewhat colder weather now that fall was near - the infamous Texas heat would be driven away. He reached for his menu after she did hers, and opened it, scanning through the meals and sides, "I think I'm in the mood for the grilled chicken sandwich," he said, a deciding note in his tone. "What are you having?" If things went as they usually did - she'd order something that also looked good and he'd end up stealing a bite. James looked up and away from his menu, catching his wife's eyes with his as she spoke. He smiled one of his crooked white smiles and nodded earnestly, "I know. I missed it too. It's like we hardly ever get the chance to spend a whole day together anymore." With that he gave her a small teasing pout, and folded his menu up to place it back on the table. Today, though, he planned on focusing on every moment they shared, and would try not to think about the upcoming work filled days... weeks... months. He was going to live in the moment.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: JAMES OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: I LOVE THEM. Jayde knew that their lives were a lot easier than they had been when James had been over in Iraq. Still, she couldn't help but complain when she was unable to be with him as much as she would like. She supposed that it had to do with the fact that she had him there and she was unable to see him, whereas when he had been in the military he was thousands and thousands of miles away and missing him made more sense. In truth, Jayde still missed him like crazy but it was nothing on the three years she had spent waiting for him. She still remembered seeing him for the first time after so many years apart; the visits had felt like dreams between the days they spent apart. He had definitely been different, but he was still the man she had fallen in love with and she was not going to leave him. She had no reason to; he was still gentle and kind with her. He was still her husband, she couldn't see a reason why his change would be a problem. She must have changed too in his time away. Their marriage was better than it had been in years and it had always been a smooth ride for the two of them.
He had supported her decision to go to medical school and become a doctor, just as she had supported his decision to serve. When he came home, Jayde knew that he was hesitant to work for his father but she had complete faith in her husband and knew that one day his hard work would pay off and he would have a business of his very own; if not, his father would leave the current one to him. It was hard to be so close yet spent so much time apart, but Jayde knew that one day it would all pay off and they would be settled and able to sit down to dinner together; occasionally. She knew that James wanted a family, she did too. But it was a matter of putting her career on hold to spent time with the child after it was born, not to mention needing a nanny for the hours in which she and her husband had work. One day they would have that, but at the moment that looked to be far off in the future, neither had brought up the idea. Maybe one day she would find the courage to discuss it with James.
When she had returned home from work the night before, James had informed her that he would be sharing her day off with her. He had managed to fill his shift on the site and Jayde had pulled him into the tightest of hugs. Of course, she would have been okay with lazing around all day until he got off work but this was much more fun. She loved him for wanting to spend the day with her and when he had agreed to going out to lunch, Jayde found herself unable to stop smiling. "Mm, Fall. I'll miss the heat though. I like it when you get around the house without your shirt on." Jayde jested, wiggling her eyebrows at her husband. Pondering over the various meals, Jayde listened to James' choice and found herself deciding on what she wanted. "I think I'm going with the teriyaki chicken sub." she answered with a nod of her head. The sight of James' crooked smile had Jayde grinning, her hand folded into a fist that she rested her cheek on. "I know, it blows. But it's better than nothing, right? I mean, we could be countries apart." she said, sarcasm clear in her voice. Jayde chuckled, "See what I did there?" With a nod, Jayde pushed her menu away. "Are we going with beers? Or are we behaving and having soda?" she asked, reaching her hand out and wrapping it around one of his.

He was twenty, and had dropped out of his university classes to do so, but Jayde supported him nevertheless. Reflecting back on it, there were so many reasons that he enlisted, he couldn't nail down just one. Maybe because he and Jayde were broke college students and he wanted to do everything he could to support their new lives together, maybe because he came from a military background, maybe it was to finally gain an ounce of respect from his father. James knew that Jayde's own father had given his life for his country, and consequently had fears for her husband, still, she stood by him and saw him off. Things weren't perfect, but the couple persevered, and their love for each other only grew stronger in the time that he was away. On the outside, they looked like the perfect couple. The devoted army wife and the soldier husband, with tears in her eyes and a loving gaze from his as they said goodbye. They weren't without their issues though, and were just like any other married couple in that aspect. James had to admit, however, that that before and after he was in Iraq, things were usually good rather than bad. Being away, though, was hell.
They were literally that couple who got lucky and found each other young. He was a senior and she was a sophomore in high school when they met. It wasn't love-at-first-sight, but neither of them could deny the chemistry they quickly found between themselves. They were that picturesque couple, as so many of their classmates deemed them to be; always walking together to their classes and holding hands. He picked her up for school and dropped her off, they went to prom - all of that. After James returned home from Iraq, they fell back into the pattern easily. Problems, if and when they arose, were worked through and always settled. They were happy together.
James did his best to make sure that whenever they had the opportunity to be together that they were. He felt like he needed to make up for the lost time. It was obvious that he didn't regret a single moment. He couldn't help but smirk and laugh briefly, "I know you do, but I don't think it needs to be hot outside for me to take my shirt off around you." With that, he gave her a cheeky wink and then nodded when she disclosed what she'd be ordering for lunch. He'd definitely steal a bite if she'd let him. James glanced back down to the menu that he'd folded up in front of him, looking over the beverages as she spoke in response to him, and then he pouted slightly. The way she rested her head on her hand forced a smile back to his face anyway. "I did. But it won't ever happen again. If I leave the country, you're coming with me. Maybe a trip to the Caribbean," he smirked hinting to a possible future vacation that they could take together. Who knew when they would both get the chance to make something like that happen though. Their lives were demanding. "A beer would be nice, but just one. I gotta make sure we can get home." James gave a nod, reaching out simultaneously to take her hand as she reached for his. They were so in tune with one another that sometimes it seemed choreographed.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: JAMES OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: SO MUCH LOVE! Every time Jayde was able to lay her eyes on James was a blessing to her. When he had told her that he was going to enlist, fear had bubbled up inside of her. She knew that they were struggling and the money would be good but she couldn't help but be worried for her husband. Her father had died serving overseas and she didn't want James to do the same, they had plans for their future. A life together that she hoped they would get to live. Still, despite her fears, Jayde kept her head up and stood by James' decision. She had very bravely driven him to where he would depart from, sent him away with a kiss and stood on the brink of tears with all of the other wives and husbands. Jayde had remained strong through the years he was gone. She made time for phone calls and wrote him letters weekly about her life back in Texas. It was obvious that wherever he was, things were more hectic, but she had wanted to let him in on all of the stories from home.
Jayde was lucky to have a man like James in her life, despite the usual fights, they were really content in their life together; they always had been. Of course, when he had graduated, Jayde had been worried that he would lose interest in his junior girlfriend and find someone more interesting in college. Still, James had treated her the way he had when he was at high school, but instead of walking her to her classes, he would drive her to and from school. They were in love and Jayde knew that from the very beginning; almost. His return only made their relationship stronger, they were still equals and they were still in love with one another.
Watching as a family passed, Jayde listened to her husband as their playful banter continued, her eyes drifting back to his whenever she wasn't distracted by another beauty. She really loved to be outside, it was hard being locked up inside of a hospital on such lovely days; Jayde was thankful that she was finally able to be one of the people outside enjoying it. "I respectfully disagree. I think you should be banned from wearing shirts at home unless we have family visiting." she teased, adding in a single nod as if to make her decision final. Now that she had decided what she was going to eat, Jayde found herself getting hungrier by the minute, she was looking forward to sharing a hot lunch with her husband. It had been so long since they had shared a quality meal that wasn't from the hospital cafeteria when he came in to visit her on breaks. A laugh passed her lips when James went along with her teasing, her green eyes lighting up at the idea of visiting the Caribbean. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. Maybe I could look into getting some time off soon? We haven't had a vacation in so long." she replied, a hopeful look in her eyes. "I think I'll have a beer too. That sounds so good. I haven't had a beer in weeks." she mused, bringing his hand up to place a kiss on it. "I love you." she uttered, a smile touching her lips as she looked at him.

Even after they got married, even when he got back from Iraq, it was a topic that sizzled on the back burner. A surefire hot topic that neither of them had ever really seriously brought up to discuss with one another. They were getting to that point in their lives, though, where it was bound to come up sooner or later. James wasn't sure how he felt about the topic right now. It was always in the back of his mind somewhere. When he saw a father with his child getting ice cream, or a new mother with a baby in a stroller at the supermarket... He knew that they would eventually have a child, or maybe children, but he couldn't be sure when. Hell, how did anyone decide when? It was kind of a big deal, bringing a new life into the world, and James really had no idea how to figure out if he was ready or not. His job was demanding. He was the boss's able son, always around, managing multiple crews as well as doing his own fair share of work. He felt he had to be there and doing everything he could within the company, if he wasn't, he feared that his father would use it against him like he did with other decisions James had made.
When James decided to go to university for architecture, his father was more than a little bit displeased, he was angry. He guilted James over it, saying that he only wanted to be an architect because it would make him better than a construction worker, better than his father. As if it were some ego-trip James was on, but his father couldn't have more wrong. James loved the architecture because it was what started the whole construction process, it was the base, the creation... His father didn't see that, and to please him, James dropped out of college and enlisted in the army. In retrospect, joining the army because it was a family tradition, because his father had served, because he wanted a god damn pat on the back for once, was one of the stupidest things he'd ever done. James couldn't help it though. His whole life he tried to make that man proud. James knew full well that if he couldn't convince his father he was capable of taking over Keller Construction, the man would sell it to someone else. It was tough on James, but Jayde was always supportive. She believed in him, and she believed that he could even start his own company if he wanted, but what James wanted most was to take over for his dad. He had to. If that meant waiting another few months, or a year, before they went ahead with starting a family, James had to hope Jayde would understand.
He knew that she also had her own career to worry about. She was only an intern at the hospital, which meant that if she left the program to have a baby, it could be hard for her to go back. The whole situation was a bit stressful, and the very reason that the topic stayed where it was, sizzling on the back burner. James simply didn't have the guts to serve it up on a plate for discussion. Not yet. The idea of going shirtless at home at all times, aside from family functions, earned an honest laugh from Jayde's husband, and he smiled over at her, "We'll see about that, hon. I might get a little cold though." One of the best parts of their relationship was how easily they could joke with one another. The ease and relaxed tone of the conversation easily brought them from one thing to the next, no pressure added, "It has been a while, and we haven't been out of the country since our honeymoon." That was nine years ago. Nine years... "Maybe an anniversary trip, hm?" He raised an eyebrow and tilted his head just barely, green eyes lighting up as they looked into her own irises of the same color. It would be nice to get away, that was for sure, but James knew from experience that it would be tough coordinating their days off to make it happen. She decided upon a beer as well, then kissed his hand and he couldn't help smile at her, complete and total adoration written all over his face. He lowered their hands back to the table and, before responding to her confession, leaned in for a swift, loving kiss on the lips. "Love you too," he said, drawing back with eyes only for her.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: JAMES OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: I CANNOT, EITHER! <3 There was no denying that life was hard. That sometimes it threw things at you that weren't always ideal. Jayde couldn't think of another person who was more deserving than her husband, but still it seemed that nothing he did seemed to please the one person who should have been the proudest. Jayde would be lying if she said that she didn't dislike her husband's father. All he ever did was tear James down and make him feel that he wasn't good enough. He had a promising future in architecture, but his father had been so angry about the whole thing that he had dropped out. Jayde understood the military, she had a father who served and a grandfather who served. It was the fact that when James came back he didn't try and continue on with his passion, but joined his father's company only to be scutinized in everything he did. Jayde felt so guilty for James, but worked hard to show him that she thought he was the hardest working man she knew. It wasn't a lie. Apart from her father, she had never met a man who was so focused and dedicated to do something. When her husband put his mind to something, it got done. This was a big factor in her reasoning for bringing up that she wanted to have a family with him; he was focused on gaining his father's business and she wasn't sure she was ready to put her career on hold yet; she had worked so hard to get to where she was.
Jayde didn't know what it was like to have her parents dislike her choices. Sure, they had been a little unsure about her marrying so young, but she had been so sure about James. They were almost inseparable and truly wanted to be together. It hadn't been easy in the early days, but they found their way. She was six when she first told her mother that she was going to be a doctor when she grew up and her mother had been supportive of her choices every day after that. Despite all of the homework and hours, Jayde had managed to spend time with her husband while earning herself a scholarship to medical school. Her determination didn't stray in his absence, in fact, she used her studying to distract her from the fears she had about James being in Iraq. The day he came home for good was the day that she finally stopped panicking before she went to sleep at night. This was something that she would never tell James, but she was more than certain that he would have expected something like this from her.
The laughter was something Jayde had been missing. In the last couple of days, she had lost two patients and had to inform a sixteen year old girl that she was suffering from terminal cancer. When she got home from work the night before, it was safe to say that Jayde was emotionally and physically spent. It was nice to find a reason to smile again and she was more than glad that it was James that was doing it. "You won't have to feel the cold? We could have the heating on higher?" she tried, her smile only growing more and more. Shifting in her seat, Jayde uncrossed her legs then proceeded to cross them in the opposite way, listening as James considered their next vacation. His idea had her excited, in fact, she was almost bubbling over with joy before he had even finished talking. "You mean, we could go away for our ten year anniversary?" she asked, her eyes showing just how happy she was with the idea. "Because, I think that that would be a wonderful way to spend our anniversary. I mean, if you're sure that this is what you want to do." She knew that it would be hard to co-ordinate, but Jayde knew that with a little discussion, they would definitely be able to pull it off. When their hands touched the surface of the table again, Jayde found herself holding on the tiniest bit tighter. When he kissed her, Jayde's heart raced but too soon was the sensation gone; James was good at that. Quick stolen kisses that made her wish he would do it again and again and again. "If you loved me, you'd kiss me for longer. That was a tease. I want a real one. Please..?" she pouted, batting her eyes at him innocently.

He hated to know that she was left all alone, day after day, waking up and falling asleep without him next to her. It sucked for him too, of course, but she wasn't the one who had made the decision, he did, and then she had to live with it because they were married. He felt guilty when he finally got to come back, but over the years since his tour, James finally started to let the feeling go. They were still together and it had been six years since he finished his enlistment. If that wasn't a testament to true love, James didn't know what was. They were two people who stuck together through thick and thin, good times and the bad, sickness and health - everything and anything. It had been a good six years, double the time that he was gone, and even though they worked a lot, their marriage was safe and sound. There were times when James would become stressed over long hours and a lack of spending quality time with his wife, but in the end, it was all worth it. Especially when they got to share days like today.
The stress and the longing would suddenly subside, and a smile would just about be permanently plastered upon his face. For James, it didn't get much better than this. Of course, it didn't take much for him to remember something about work, but he did his best to set it all aside and focus on what was in front of him; Jayde. She was much, much more important than his job, and he hoped she knew that despite the way he acted. The construction business was simply a part of him - his family, and although less important than his wife, it was still important nonetheless. Jayde seemed to understand that, just as he understood her need and drive to become a doctor. It was something he supported just as much as her mother, and he wanted her to accomplish her goal more than anything. She lived to help others, it was what she was born to do, and James adored that about her. "We could do that," he nodded, considering her offer in regards to him being shirtless more often. "Or we could just stay in bed, under the covers, all the time," he said, a smirk upon his lips and his tone mischievous. It seemed like a marvelous idea to him now, definitely.
Their honeymoon, something they were able to afford only because of James' signing bonus with the army, had been picturesque. They went to Jamaica and spent their entire week there locked in their hotel suite, on the beach, and eating amazing food. Since then, James had always wanted to go back, but things were just too hectic. He was sure Jayde would love to visit the Caribbean again, but a vacation there didn't quite seem appropriate until now. The ten year anniversary. It was the perfect reason to go back. He could see the excitement in her eyes as she spoke, which he mirrored back to her. "I think it would be a great way to celebrate ten years together," he said, "I want to if you want to. It shouldn't be that difficult to get the time off as long as we ask in advance." If they started planning now, they would they have plenty of time to coordinate everything. He had confidence in the idea already. He noted the cool feeling of the table against his arm and hand as his and hers were placed back down. The way their hands fit so perfectly together, knowing and warm, brought another smile to his face just before he kissed her, and then was there when he pulled back. "If I loved you?" he asked, his tone light and falsely offended, "Alright, I'll show you how much I love you." With that, he leaned in once again, placing his free hand on the side of her neck the moment his lips made contact with hers. This round, he let the kiss last a quality amount of time, but made sure it stayed PG13 for the fact that they were in public, then drew back. "Real enough for you?" he quipped, the smirk returning to his face as a member of the waiting staff approached their table. Knowing what they each wanted, James placed their orders, then returned his attention back to his wife. He couldn't help but think how much he wished they could do this every day.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: JAMES OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: I CANNOT, EITHER! <3 Life was a lot easier for her now. James was home with her, they were both making money and the bills were paid. Food was always in the cupboards and they were always comfortable. Finally, they were at a point where they were stable and it was without enlisting in the military. Watching James across the table, Jayde found herself relaxing completely. It had been a tough road, but they had made it together and now, she was sure that they could face absolutely anything and come out of it stronger. Sometimes, however, Jayde wondered if he put their relationship above his job on the list of importance. She did, but did he know that she felt that way? Did she show it enough when she was home. Shaking those thoughts from her mind, Jayde chuckled at James as he spoke. "Or we could do that, definitely. But tell me, does that require clothing?" she grinned, wiggling her eyebrows playfully.
Had it really been ten years already? Sometimes, it felt like only yesterday when she had been walked down the aisle by her proud, teary mother. James had still had the slightest baby face and she was barely out of high school. Ten years had passed since she first started wearing her rings and she still felt exactly the same way about James when she looked into his eyes. Returning to the Caribbean had been something that they had always spoken about but never gone through with. They had both been busy with their jobs, paying off the house they shared but this time, the conversation felt more real. It really felt as though they were really going to go through with it this time. "Like, a second honeymoon?" she asked, leaning her chin down on her hands. "We should look online at some travel packages when we get home. I think a holiday is well deserved by both of us." she added with a smile.
Jayde's eyes fell on their hands, looking at the way they fit together in a way that made her feel as though she had made the right choices in her youth. Gently, she rubbed her thumb over his hand, looking up only when his voice resounded in her ears. "Yep. If you love me, you'd show me just how much you love me." Her grin grew a little bit cheeky when James touched his hand to her neck and leaned over. Before she knew it, their lips were touching and they were locked in a kiss that held all of their feelings within it. If someone were to be watching, she was sure that they would be making faces at how very over the top they were being, but Jayde couldn't really find it in her to care. James was her husband, he loved her and she absolutely adored him. When they drew back from one another, Jayde smile and nodded in response to his question. "Mhm." she chirped, leaning back into her seat when their waiter came up to take their order. James ordered for them and before she knew it, his eyes were back on her. "Look at you, ordering for me like a gentleman." she teased, taking in their surroundings again.

He was content with things the way they were. His marriage was going wonderfully, his job was stable, and he was happy. Sure, his hours and Jayde's hours were long, but they still got along and spent as much time together as they could. They were like every other normal young married couple, really, just trying to get by and stay happy doing it. He and Jayde managed their time together well, and really, James couldn't have asked for anything more. Life was good. He smirked at her, "I'm pretty sure clothing is optional." He laughed along with her, enjoying their playful banter. It was little jokes and innuendos like that, that kept their relationship fresh and fun. They were truly a couple that were friends and lovers combined. "We can start when we get home," he said and gave her a wink, thinking he'd definitely have to make that proposal come true. It wasn't like clothes weren't optional in the bedroom in the first place though.
It was odd for him to think that they'd been married for nearly ten years already, but it made sense. They'd gotten married the summer after Jayde graduated, and then he left for Iraq that next winter. Things seemed to happen quickly, but thankfully, Jayde's mother was okay with everything. James' mother was happy for him as well, but though his father liked Jayde for the most part, he didn't understand the rush his son was in to settle down. All that mattered was that James and Jayde were in love - real, true, love. It wasn't often that you happened to find your soul mate in high school, and being together for nearly ten years now was a testament to their love for one another. They couldn't have been any more lucky, so when James brought up the vacation idea, he was dead serious. "Yeah," he smiled, his teeth bright white, "Exactly like a second honeymoon." He nodded to his wife, knowing she was excited to look into it, and he really was too. "I've looked up a few, and I bookmarked some of them that are in our price range... We deserve this though, I know, so I figured we could splurge just a little bit." He wanted to treat her to something nice - after all, it had been a decade since they've been able to really get away from it all.
One hand still in hers, he caressed her neck as they had their real kiss. It was a kiss full of feelings, the adoration he felt for her, his happiness, love, and devotion. He loved her more than words could describe, so when it came down to it, a meaningful kiss was all that was needed. When she acknowledged that the kiss meant he loved her, James flashed another bright smile at his wife, watching her with loving eyes when she leaned back into her seat. After ordering for the both them, he laughed at her teasing. "Only because I knew what you wanted," he said, because honestly, if he didn't know what she wanted, he wouldn't have. He always thought it was a bit pushy and overbearing when men made decisions like that for their wives or girlfriends when they were out to eat. The whole point of going out to eat was picking whatever you wanted - not eating what someone else picked out for you. "Do you want to stop by the ice cream parlor on the way home for dessert?" James asked his wife, tilting his head to the side just slightly, knowing it would be hard for her to pass up on the offer.
