sabrina was working. well, at least she was trying to. she was sitting at a table for two in the back corner of her local starbucks, papers spread out beneath her laptop and a cup of coffee in hand. but the fact that facebook was up on her computer screen rather than the program she was supposed to be sifting through proved that she was not concentrating well enough. she sighed a bit and clicked out of the window, trying to convince herself that she needed to work. it was six, and it was starting to get darker outside. there weren't many people at the starbucks, for which she was grateful - the last thing she needed was a distraction. not that she couldn't have found one if she was desperate. sabrina drank the last of her white mocha, tipping it back until she had every last drop before standing, throwing it away, and making her way to the barista to order another one. she smiled at the woman behind the counter, and politely pointed out, " your eyes are stunning. " with a sweet smile - it was how she had been raised, to be polite, and be a sweetheart. she gave compliments freely; she liked to live by the saying "give smiles and compliments freely, because you never know how someone's day has gone." the woman blushed and said thank you, handing sabrina's change back to her, which the girl promptly put in the tip jar before walking back to her table while she waited for her drink. she tried to concentrate this time as she flipped through her papers, picking up her pen just as her order was called.
the barista set three identical cups on the counter, and sabrina got up to go find hers. she turned one around and found her name, then turned slightly when someone bumped her, accidentally grabbing the wrong coffee. she smiled at the tall brunette, and dashingly handsome, man who had accidentally nudged her, apologized for getting in the way, before squeezing past him, bringing the cup to her lips. she knew something was immediately wrong - the coffee was not at all what she had ordered. she wrinkled her nose and made a face. " ugh, what the heck? " she turned the cup quickly to find the name - it said "cal". crap, she had gotten the wrong cup. she turned to find the man named Cal when she happened to bump into cal the dark haired man again, this time managing to spill the coffee, mostly on herself. " dear lord that is hot. " her eyes widened and she peeled her shirt away from her skin, trying not to let the hot coffee scald her. " i am so sorry! " she told the man. " i got the wrong coffee cup, and then wow i am such a clutz. " she fanned her stomach absently, the coffee having sept through the white material as well as through her jeans. she became aware that her shirt was now see-through because of the drink, and her pink frilly bra was showing through it. a hot red blush blazed across her cheeks and she looked around for a jacket and realized she had forgotten one at home. good lord, she was practically naked now. she looked at the man in embarrassment. could this get worse?

x TOMORROW MAY BE RAININ' BUT TONIGHT WE HAVE THE STARS another day was coming to an end and cal was ready to get home and.. not get any rest at all whatsoever. he had a load of paperwork to do, which is exactly what he needed, not. he figured he would grab some coffee and work late tonight, considering it was friday. besides, he had the weekend to rest and he just wanted to get this paperwork done. there was no good in rushing it, but he liked to get anything done all at once so there was no time to procrastinate. he glanced eagerly at the clock in his office and realized it was around six o'clock. cal didn't like staying late at the school and preferred going home and doing all his work there; for some reason, he just concentrated better. it wasn't like he was needed at school late anyway. he had a couple sessions with two students after school was out and now it was time to leave.
cal put his laptop into its bag and used a paper clip to keep all his papers from scattering all over. it took a few minutes to actually get ready to leave, but once he did, he left the office, saying goodbye to his fellow co-workers on his way out. he got into his car and and decided to take a side-trip to starbucks to drink some coffee and think for a while. he arrived at the coffee shop and went in. it was pretty must deserted, which is what he would expect; he really paid no attention to anyone else who may of been in there. cal approached the counter and placed his order, specifically a cappuccino. the night was a little chilly, so he decided to settle with something hot. he nodded to the woman at the counter and then went and sat at a booth.
he sat there with his hands folded neatly as he gazed out the window, feeling rather relaxed and content already. cal shook himself out of his thoughts and got up to go get his cappuccino when he realized it was ready. he wasn't really paying attention when he bumped into a young woman. he bit his lip and smiled awkwardly at her, mumbling, "'scuse me." as he went to grab his coffee and realized it was missing. "what--?" he said aloud, obviously very confused. a moment later, he was bumped into by the young woman this time and he tried to move out of the way, but turned to see that she had spilled the coffee on herself. "oh, jesus--" he was cut off by her and frowned as she apologized and explained how she took his coffee. "--christ .. it's okay. umm," he nearly stumbled over his words as he looked over her quickly.
cal took the coffee cup from her and sat it down on the counter. he was a gentleman, so his eyes didn't wander, but he realized her white shirt was soaked, making it see-through. taking off his jacket, he gently extended it out in front of her. "here, take this," he said softly, "and don't worry about it." he gave her a sweet smile, hoping she would accept his offer.

the coffee was pretty much burning her to death at this point - but she knew in a few minutes her soaked shirt was cool down in the air conditioning, and then she would be shivering like a chihuahua. sabrina and the man both started talking at the same time, and she halted as soon as she finished her sentence. he took the cup from her hand and she used her newly freed hand to keep the soaking material away from her stomach. she took in a deep calming breath, telling herself that she had been through more embarrassing situations. the man shrugged his jacket off, and held it out to her. here, take this. her face flooded with relief as she took it from him. " thank you so much. " she told him, her voice filled with gratitude. she quickly pulled the jacket on - it was far too big for her, but she didn't care - wrapping it around herself so that she was no longer exposed to the small population of starbucks goers. she smiled at him, her face still bright red. don't worry about it he mentioned, and she assumed her was speaking about the coffee, as well as the jacket. " i'll buy you a new cup of coffee. again, i'm REALLY sorry. i'm kind of clumsy. " she let out a small laugh, although it was awkward and made her sound a bit flustered. she was not an extremely modest person, but she didn't enjoy having her bra on full display, especially when it was in front of incredibly handsome, kind men. she held out her hand quickly. " sorry, i forgot my manners! i'm sabrina. " she at this point had deduced that he was the "Cal" she had been looking for.
she looked him over and realized she was sort of grateful she had run into him - god this guy was hot. although he looked considerably older than her; sabrina was only twenty, but she had lived by the philosophy that age was only a number. if this guy was her soul mate she most definitely would not turn him away. although if he was said soul mate, she would have preferred she met him in a less climatic, embarrassing and generally awkward situation. it was kind of hard to be appealing when you had a soaked-through shirt and a three-sizes-too-big jacket wrapped around you. she was just grateful she had put her contacts in today instead of wearing her considerably dorky glasses, although most people told her she looked adorable in them. she looked him over again, wanting to make it up to him. she felt pretty bad, even though really, she'd gotten the ass-end out of the situation. she didn't know what to do, though, so maybe he'd decide he wanted a conversation with her, and she could figure out how to make it up to him. she hugged the jacket closer to her - it smelled good.

x TOMORROW MAY BE RAININ' BUT TONIGHT WE HAVE THE STARS cal was pretty concerned for her, but it wasn't like the coffee was acid or anything (that wasn't very realisitc). his smile turned into a small grin when she took his jacket and thanked him. "it's no problem at all, really; just as long as you're okay," he said sincerely. not many people (men specifically) had the kind of attitude cal had; he was definitely one in a million. it was just in his nature to be kind and look out for others. he felt even better when she smiled at him, but her bright red face gave away the fact she was still very embarrased, and hell, he didn't blame her. "nah, you don't need to do that," he said, referring to the comment she had made about buying him a new cup of coffee, "and again--" he cut himself off as he chuckled, and then continued, "no worries. hell, i should be the one apologizing, you're the one that got covered in hot coffee!" smiling shyly at her, he took her hand as she extended it to him, shaking it firmly, "nice to meet you, sabrina. i'm cal."
he looked at her closely, examining her eyes and face, and then at her just in general. sabrina; she was a very beautiful young woman and looked to be in her early twenties (or so he hoped). cal wondered how awkward this situation actually was for her. for him? not so much. he felt kind of bad, but whatever happened was done and over with. he wasn't going to blame her for being a little clumsy; everyone was to some degree. "so, um, would you like to sit?" he asked as he looked around; he then remembered the specific booth she was sitting at when he walked in. his mind hadn't registered it until now. cal spotted the booth with the laptop and papers on the table. "over here?" he asked as he motioned to that booth. he then moved back toward the counter where her cup of coffee still sat, making sure it had her name before picking it up. he nodded his head toward the booth and waited for her to go to it before following with her coffee.
